Sea Palace x Warrior Shanghai

For the English version: click here. Als we op een koude maandag de loopbrug van het indrukwekkende drijvende restaurant op lopen is het een stuk stiller en donkerder dan we gewend zijn. Waar normaal gesproken 600 man kan worden voorzien van allerlei gerechten in stomende mandjes, zit nu niemand. Een bittere pil voor de mensen achter het Chinese restaurant – dat nog steeds elke dag geopend is. In samenwerking met de mensen achter Sea Palace ontwierp Warrior Shanghai een kledinglijn, zoals eerder gebeurde met mede-restauranthouders Hoi Tin. Het ontwerp van de kledingstukken is geïnspireerd op de iconische rode neonletters op het dak, die sinds jaar en dag de boot aftekenen tegen de Amsterdamse horizon. Sea Palace, capable of providing 600 people with steamy dim sum baskets, is nearly empty. A hard pill to swallow for the people behind the extraordinary restaurant – still opened every day. Hoi Tin, the Zeedijk bakery known for its steaming buns showcased in their shop window, has been active for exactly 45 years this year. Having once started as a tiny bakery right beside the He Hua temple, it has grown out to be a renowned restaurant in the city of Amsterdam. However, we all know these are turbulent times right now for restaurant owners. Lots of Chinese family businesses are currently struggling.
